POSITION SUMMARY The Housekeeping Manager plans, organizes, and manages housekeeping, room set-up, and laundry functions of Channing House. The Housekeeping Manager ensures consistent quality across current operations and helps plan housekeeping and laundry services for renovated, expanded, and future buildings. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES This position will be responsible for, but not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities: Housekeeping Duties– 70% of job duties: Establishes and implements operational standards and procedures for housekeeping, laundry, room set-up, and related services. Ensures resident apartments are cleaned thoroughly and according to schedule. Ensures common spaces and events are properly set up, maintained, cleaned, and returned to their standard configuration. Develops quality measures and regularly inspects work to ensure services meet established standards across all areas and buildings. Selects appropriate cleaning materials and methods for different types of linens, furniture, flooring, and surfaces. Coordinates activities with other departments to ensure services are provided efficiently and in a timely manner. Responds to resident communications, including commendations, concerns, and complaints, in a tactful and timely manner; investigates service or equipment concerns and takes appropriate corrective action. Evaluates current operations, staffing, equipment, supplies, workflows, and service levels to identify opportunities for improvement. Recommends and implements changes that improve service quality, resident satisfaction, consistency, safety, and operational efficiency. Evaluates and implements computer tools and software to support the effective management of housekeeping and laundry services. Participates in planning for renovations, expansions, and future buildings to ensure housekeeping and laundry operational needs are considered. Provides input on flooring, finishes, furnishings, equipment, storage, supply areas, laundry facilities, and other features that affect cleanliness, safety, durability, and operational efficiency. Develops housekeeping service plans, staffing models, equipment needs, cleaning schedules, and budgets for renovated, expanded, and future spaces. Establishes consistent housekeeping and laundry standards across existing, renovated, expanded, and future buildings. Oversees housekeeping-related aspects of renovations, expansions, and temporary arrangements, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, regulatory, and infection-control standards. Plans and coordinates final cleaning, operational readiness, and the transition of new or renovated spaces into regular housekeeping service. Oversees the distribution and inventory of supplies and equipment and ensures Housekeeping and Central Supply storage areas are organized, stocked, and maintained. Ensures housekeeping and laundry equipment is maintained in working order and coordinates necessary repairs or replacements. Manages supply and equipment vendor relationships and contracts. Selects and orders equipment, supplies, and furnishings. Estimates costs; prepares and manages operating and capital budgets; and monitors expenditures within established budgets. Manages monthly charges for laundry and housekeeping services provided to residents. Participates in applicable Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI), safety, infection-control, and emergency-preparedness committees. Supervisory – 30% of job duties: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, developing, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, delegating, and directing work; evaluating performance; recognizing and rewarding employees; providing coaching and corrective action; addressing complaints and workplace concerns; and, when necessary, disciplining or terminating employment. Trains staff on cleaning standards, work procedures, infection control, safety practices, inventory management, and the proper use of housekeeping and laundry equipment. Forecasts staffing needs and adjusts schedules to maintain effective service levels during routine operations, special events, emergencies, renovations, and building openings. Completes required administrative duties, including forms, reports, evaluations, and studies. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Years of Related Professional Experience : 5 years of related work experience 3 years supervisory experience Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Educational/Position Requirements : High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience AA, BA or BS degree. Specialty in Hospitality preferred. Computer/Software/Technical Applications: Ability to use a computer. Microsoft suite Languages : Ability to speak and comprehend English the primary language used in the workplace; ability to speak and/or comprehend other languages utilized by clients is a plus. Fluency in Spanish is preferred. Required Licenses/ Certifications/ Background: Must be willing to obtain specialized training in infection control within 90 days of employment, unless training or expertise can be demonstrated. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Position requires ability to work nights, weekends and some holidays based on Channing House and Housekeeping needs Hands-on Oversight: Active presence on the floor to personally supervise deep cleaning, and specialized projects. High Mobility: Requires standing, walking, and traversing multiple floors for extended periods to inspect rooms and public areas.
