About the Opportunity

Our client is a growing, PE-backed software company seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to own the accounts payable function while supporting broader accounting operations, systems implementation, and process improvement.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of AP while expanding into broader accounting responsibilities over time. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, adaptable, and always looking for ways to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full AP cycle, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, and ACH, check, and wire payments.
• Reconcile vendor statements, maintain the AP subledger, and prepare AP accruals for month-end close.
• Manage vendor master data and W-9/1099 compliance.
• Monitor AP aging and resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies.
• Support implementation and optimization of AP automation and cloud-based accounting systems.
• Document workflows, assist with UAT and system testing, and help train users on new processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve AP efficiency through automation and technology.
• Leverage AI and other emerging tools to streamline invoice review, reconciliations, reporting, and routine accounting tasks.
• Ensure AP processes follow internal controls and audit requirements.
• Support month-end close, external audit requests, and ad hoc accounting analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of accounting experience with meaningful accounts payable exposure.
• Experience with a cloud-based ERP and/or AP automation platform.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles and US GAAP.
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving processes and priorities.
• Experience with Emburse, Bill.com, Coupa, Tipalti, Concur, or similar AP platforms.
• Experience with UAT, system testing, or documenting business requirements.
• Familiarity with AI tools used to improve accounting workflows.
• Interest in automation, technology, and process improvement.
