Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Leadership : Support the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations and lead the kitchen staff to deliver a smooth, efficient, and cohesive environment.
Food Preparation & Quality Control : Oversee food preparation, ensuring each dish meets Madrina’s standards for taste, consistency, and presentation.
Team Supervision & Training : Mentor, coach, and train kitchen staff to uphold culinary techniques and standards.
Inventory & Ordering : Monitor food inventory, place orders, manage food costs, and work to minimize waste.
Health & Safety Compliance : Enforce strict food safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols throughout the kitchen.
Menu Development : Collaborate on new menu items, seasonal specials, and improvements to existing dishes.
Line Cooking & Service Expediting : Step onto the line or expedite during busy service periods as needed to ensure timely, high-quality food delivery.
Problem-Solving & Efficiency : Address challenges quickly and effectively to maintain a productive kitchen environment.

Requirements

Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or Lead Line Cook in a high-volume kitchen or fast-paced kitchen environment
Strong culinary skills, with comprehensive knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment
Proven leadership ability and effective team management skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality and consistency
Creativity and enthusiasm for menu development and food innovation
Keen attention to detail, especially regarding plating and presentation
Food Safety Certification (ServSafe or equivalent preferred)

Schedule
Full-time position; flexible schedule required, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of a busy restaurant kitchen.
