Budget Analyst I Job No: 561570 Work Type: Staff Location: Pomona Categories: Unit 9 - CSUEU - Technical Support Services, Administrative, Probationary, Full Time, On-site (work in-person at business location) Type of Appointment: Full-Time, Probationary Job Classification: Budget Analyst I Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,570-$4,850 monthly Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm The DEPARTMENT: The Singelyn Graduate School of Business offers graduate degreeprograms in Business Administration (MBA), Accountancy (MSA),Business Analytics (MSBA), Digital Marketing (MSDM), Digital SupplyChain Management (MSDSCM), Financial Analytics (MSFA), HumanResources Leadership (MSHRL), and Information Security (MSIS). TheInformation Security (MSIS) program is offered in both face-to-faceand online formats. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: BUDGETARY TRACKING AND ANALYSIS Follows established procedures in support of budgetinginitiatives and processes for the Singelyn Graduate School ofBusiness (SGSB) and the College's Centers and Institutes. Surveys and investigates assigned budget matters, includingcollecting systemwide, campus-level, and other applicable financialinformation. Conducts basic analysis to support the review of budgetrequests, including projected revenues and costs, posting of budgetdata, and ongoing budgetary control of allocations. Monitors and reconciles assigned State, Enterprise Foundation,Philanthropic Foundation, grant/contract, and other accountsrelated to SGSB, Centers, and Institutes. Tracks revenues, expenditures, encumbrances, and availablebalances and assists with revenue and expenditure projections.Prepares information concerning specific phases of budgets andfinancial procedures and contributes to budget summary reports bycompleting financial analysis for the Dean, Associate Deans, SGSB,and Center and Institute Directors, as needed. Coordinates with the Budget Analyst II on assigned budgetactivities, reconciliations, reporting, and discrepancies. Providescustomer service to internal and external stakeholders and performsassigned budget activities in accordance with establishedprocedures. Approximately 20% of this responsibility supportsdesignated College of Business Administration Dean's Office budgetactivities. STUDENT SUCCESS Supports the financial administration of scholarships,including preparing reports on scholarship availability and awardamounts and coordinating with the Office of Financial Aid,Associate Dean of Student Success, SGSB Director, and otherdesignated officials responsible for scholarship awards anddisbursements. Supports financial processing for student travel related toSGSB programs and Center and Institute activities, includingintercollegiate competitions. Supports student clubs with budget requests involving non-ASIaccounts, including Enterprise and Philanthropic Foundationaccounts. Assists with student reimbursements related to SGSB programsand initiatives. BUDGET COORDINATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Attends appropriate training courses and Budget Analystmeetings to remain current with university fiscal policies,procedures, systems, and practices. Serves as a resource on routinebudget matters related to SGSB, Centers, and Institutes. Participates in College and Dean's Office budget meetings andattends other budget-related meetings with the Budget Analyst IIwhen requested by the Dean or Associate Dean. QUALIFICATIONS: Combination - Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a relatedfield. General knowledge of budgeting principles, concepts, andprocesses. Skill in following guidelines and providing input andfeedback. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team and buildrelationships with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in using word processing and spreadsheet softwareand applications. Ability to learn financial systems. Organizational and time management skills to plan, organize,and prioritize work. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience supporting budget or financial operations in ahigher education or public-sector environment. Experience working with State, auxiliary, foundation, grant, orphilanthropic fiscal policies and procedures. Experience using financial and reporting systems such asPeopleSoft Financials, OneSolution, Tableau, or similarapplications. Proficiency using Microsoft Excel to organize, reconcile, andanalyze financial data. CSU Classification Salary Range This position is part of the CSUEU bargaining unit 9. The CSUClassification Standards for this position are located on CSU Classification Standards website. The classification salary rangefor this position according to the respective skill level is:minimum $4,570 and maximum $6,658 per month.
