Surgical Tech II: Main OR - 40hrs/week, DAYS

Position Overview Department/Unit: Operating Room Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Salary Range: $49,763.00 - $69,668.00 Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals who form an integral part of the surgical team. They work under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and a surgeon to facilitate procedures, ensuring the operating room environment is safe and the patient’s safety is maintained. The surgical technologist handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgery, understands the procedure, anticipates the surgeon’s needs and maintains vigilance for the sterile field. They can function independently in the scrub role and as a circulator under the supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse. This position may require on‑call duties and rotating shifts. Responsibilities Maintain sterile field Prepare operating rooms and assist with patient positioning as needed Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening and maintain sterility of instruments and supplies while scrubbed Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts in accordance with established policies and procedures Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent (required) Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program (CST) NYS LPN also acceptable 1 to 3 years of scrubbing experience preferred Familiarity with all specialty services preferred Additional Responsibilities This role may require access to information considered sensitive to Albany Med Health System, its patients, affiliates, and partners, including but not limited to HIPAA Protected Health Information and other information regulated by Federal and New York State statutes.
