Surgical Technologists: 40hrs/week, Days

Department/Unit: Operating Room | Work Shift: Day (United States of America) | Salary Range: $64,972.00 - $97,458.00 Job Summary Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals who are an integral part of the team of practitioners providing surgical care to patients. They work under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and a surgeon to facilitate surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that patient safety is maintained. The surgical technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure, has an understanding of the procedure, and anticipates the need of the surgeon. They remain vigilant for the maintenance of the sterile field and can function independently in the scrub role, and as a circulator under the supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse. This position may require on‑call duties and rotating shifts as well. Key Responsibilities Maintain sterile field Prepare operating rooms and assist with patient positioning as needed Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening, maintain sterility while scrubbed, and maintain sterility of instruments and supplies Perform accurate instrument, sponge and needle counts following established policies and procedures Requirements High School Diploma or Equivalent Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program (CST) or NYS LPN acceptable 1 to 3 years of scrubbing experience preferred Familiar with all specialty services preferred Ability to work under supervision of RN and surgeon, and independently in scrub role or as circulator Access to sensitive information may be required; must adhere to HIPAA and other regulations and comply with the “need to know” policy Equal Opportunity Employer Albany Med Health System is an equal opportunity employer.
