Trauma / Acute Care Surgery Physician Assistant

Assignment Details

Location: Bellingham, Washington

Provider Type: Physician Assistant

Coverage Type: Scheduled Day Coverage / No Call

Expected Duration: Approximately 6 Months

Coverage Need: 3.0 FTE

Hospital Beds: 251

EMR: Epic

Compensation: $140/hr.

Schedule

3-4 Shifts Per Week

Shift Options: 6:30 AM-4:30 PM or 6:30 AM-6:30 PM

Daily Shift Standard: 12 Hours

Schedule Expected to Include at Least 2 Weekdays Plus Weekend Coverage

Clinic Hours: Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30 AM-4:30 PM

Clinic Schedule May Be Covered by the Regular Team if Needed

No Call

Patient Population / Volume

Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Patients

Approximately 18 Patients Per Day

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Coverage

Respond to Trauma Activations

May Serve as Initial Trauma Responder if the Trauma Surgeon Is in the Operating Room

Provide Initial Evaluation and Response in the Emergency Department

Perform Inpatient Rounding

Admit Patients to the Trauma / Acute Care Surgery Service

Manage Admissions Including ICU Patients

Provide Surgical First Assist

Prepare for and Manage Post-Discharge Clinic

Provide Outpatient Post-Discharge Follow-Up as Scheduled

May Work Independently at Times

APC Support May Be Available on Some Days

Requirements

Physician Assistant - Required

Washington License Not Required at Time of Submission

Candidates Requiring Licensure May Be Considered

BLS - Required

ACLS - Required

ATLS - Required

BLS and ACLS Must Be From the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, as Applicable

Epic Proficiency - Required

COVID-19 Vaccination - Required, No Exemptions

Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Experience - Required

Recent Clinical Activity Requirements

Documentation of Recent Clinical Activity From the Previous 24 Months - Required

Recent Clinical Activity Must Be Representative of the Scope and Complexity of Privileges Requested

Requirement May Be Waived for Candidates Who Completed Training Within the Previous Year
