SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Server Assistant/Buser is responsible for supporting servers in delivering exceptional guest service by maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient dining environment. This role ensures timely table resets, assists with food and beverage service, and supports overall restaurant operations in accordance with PUBLIC’s standards. This Role will be cross trained with our Outdoor Attendants  who will monitor the outdoor spaces. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Be an ambassador for PUBLIC by meeting and exceeding PUBLIC core objectives and values.
• Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, professional, and efficient service.
• Assist servers with food and beverage delivery to ensure timely and accurate service.
• Clear and reset tables quickly and efficiently according to service standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, service stations, and equipment of all times.
• Refill water, beverages, and bread service as needed.
• Assist in maintaining adequate stock of linens, silverware, glassware, and service supplies.
• Polish glassware, flatware, and other service items to ensure presentation standards.
• Ensure service stations are fully stocked and organized throughout service.
• Maintain compliance with all health, safety and sanitation standards.
• Collaborate with team members and provide lateral service to support overall operations.
• Follow directions from supervisors and maintain positive working relationships.
• Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 50lbs.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motions.
• Ability to work under time pressure during peak service hours, including weekends and holidays.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment preferred.
• Must possess a valid California Food Handler Card or be able to obtain one within the required time frame.
