Environmental Attorney

Position OverviewWe are looking for an attorney with strong environmental litigation experience who will devote their practice primarily to environmental matters. The position reports to the Pittsburgh office but is fully remote within the United States. The successful candidate must be barred and in good standing in California. Ideal experience includes litigation and counseling related to the remediation of contaminated sites (e.g., CERCLA/Superfund, state analog programs, RCRA, brownfields, and related cost-recovery, contribution, and liability disputes). The role also involves supporting broader environmental litigation, compliance counseling, and incident/emergency response matters.Key ResponsibilitiesHandle all phases of environmental litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs; managing document review; taking and defending depositions; and participating in hearings, mediations, and trials.Advise clients on remediation of contaminated sites, including oversight of investigation and cleanup, negotiation of consent orders/decrees, cost allocation among potentially responsible parties (PRPs), and related insurance recovery.Provide environmental compliance counseling and support emergency/incident response.Collaborate with colleagues across Dentons' national and global platform.Contribute to business development and client relationship efforts as appropriate.QualificationsJ.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.Active license to practice law in California and in good standing (additional bar admissions a plus).Significant experience in environmental litigation; strong preference for matters involving remediation of contaminated sites, CERCLA/Superfund, state cleanup programs, RCRA, or related cost-recovery and contribution actions.Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills; proven ability to produce clear, concise, and persuasive written work product.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters in a remote environment while reporting to the Pittsburgh team.Interest in and commitment to environmental law practice.BenefitsHealthDentalVisionPTOBonus401k MatchPension
