Accounting Manager | Bring Structure, Accuracy & Discipline to a Growing Operation

Houston -area | Hybrid | Distribution/Manufacturing (inventory-heavy) | CPA required | $125K base

We are partnering with a private equity-backed, multi-entity business in the Houston area to identify a hands-on Accounting Manager who can bring structure, accuracy and discipline to a growing operation.

This is not a maintenance accounting role. The business is building and upgrading its finance organization while continuing to grow, and needs an Accounting Manager who can own the accounting, roll up their sleeves, assess what is working and what isn't, and create better processes, controls and accountability.

Reporting to the Controller, this person will be a key accounting resource with meaningful exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to grow as the organization expands.

What You’ll Own

• Lead key aspects of the monthly close, including general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries and account analysis
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and balance sheet integrity
• Bring strong accounting discipline to an inventory-based operating environment, including cost accounting and supply-chain-related activity
• Identify gaps, improve processes and controls, and drive greater efficiency and consistency
• Dig into issues, determine root causes and bring forward solutions rather than simply reporting problems
• Lead and develop staff while helping assess capabilities and build a stronger accounting organization
• Support an evolving, multi-entity business as continued growth and acquisitions add complexity

What We’re Looking For

• CPA required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Strong hands-on accounting foundation and solid GAAP knowledge
• Experience in distribution, manufacturing or another inventory-intensive operating environment
• Inventory and cost accounting experience , with an understanding of how accounting connects to supply chain and operations
• Experience leading a close and performing detailed account reconciliations
• A track record of improving processes, controls or accounting operations — not simply maintaining them
• Experience in a private equity-backed, acquisitive or transformational environment is strongly preferred
• Confident, entrepreneurial and willing to roll up your sleeves, solve problems and take ownership
• Experience developing and leading accounting staff

This role is budgeted for approximately $125,000 base plus a 10% bonus and is currently hybrid, with the team together in the office Tuesday through Thursday.

For the right accountant, there is significant runway here. The organization is investing in a stronger finance team, the scope is expected to grow with the business, and this role can provide a path toward broader controllership responsibility.
