Position Summary Huntington Ingalls Industries: Mission Technologies Division is seeking an Intellectual Property (IP) Technical Specialist to support our work with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency at its offices in St. Louis, MO or Springfield, VA. The role requires on‑site work at the selected location and cannot be performed remotely. Key Responsibilities Conduct patent searches to assess novelty and patentability of computer architecture, artificial intelligence, and other computer science and engineering inventions. Interview inventors to gather all required aspects of technologies submitted for ORTA patenting recommendations. Collaborate with inventors and the Office of General Counsel to develop and execute patent prosecution strategies. Prepare patent applications, including drafting specifications, drawings, and claims, ensuring technical accuracy. Provide technical and legal research and analysis to support NGA submissions pending before the USPTO. Assist with preparing responses to USPTO actions and docket management. Maintain procedures for classification and record‑keeping of patent documentation. Interpret and enforce all documentation formatting, standards, policies, and operating procedure requirements. Minimum Qualifications 5 years relevant experience with a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field; or 3 years with an M.S.; or 0 years with a Ph.D.; or high school diploma with 9 years experience. U.S. TS/SCI security clearance required at hire (U.S. citizenship required). Demonstrated technical expertise in computer architecture, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, software engineering, or programming. Ability to work independently with minimal guidance. Superior writing and analytical skills. Knowledge of U.S. patent law, Manual of Patent Examining Procedure, and USPTO regulations. Preferred Requirements Located near St. Louis, MO or Springfield, VA. USPTO registration. Publications in technical journals or white papers in relevant fields.
