Title I Sel Behavior Specialist

Salary based on experience. This employee is assigned 100% to the program or single cost objective. Reports to: Principal. Primary Purpose: Provide for physical and emotional needs of students in individual or small group settings. Play a vital role in creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture. Assist in implementing classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, which will address the individual needs of the students.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Associate's degree or higher preferred. Two years of study at an institute of higher learning or have met formal academic assessment required by No Child Left Behind Act. Valid Texas educational aide certificate.

Special Knowledge/Skills: Strong interpersonal, data analysis, and program development skills. Knowledge of behavior strategies and support. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Experience: Experience working with children.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Instruction & Intervention: Provide individual and small group SEL/CDI interventions, including Tier 2 support (e.g., CICO). Collaborate with teachers to implement effective classroom strategies and support student needs. Deliver staff training and support SEL/CDI program implementation.

Behavior Systems & Student Support: Respond to behavior referrals, investigate incidents, and determine appropriate interventions aligned with campus systems. Support students in developing social-emotional skills, self-regulation, and positive behaviors. Identify students in need of intervention and coordinate targeted support.

Data & Compliance: Collect, analyze, and use data (e.g., AWARE, progress monitoring, behavior logs) to guide decisions. Maintain accurate documentation and support IEPs, BIPs, and required reporting. Monitor and evaluate student progress and program effectiveness.

Communication & Collaboration: Communicate with parents, staff, and administration regarding student progress and behavior. Participate in ARD/MTSS meetings and collaborate with campus teams. Build positive relationships with families and stakeholders.

Professional Responsibilities: Maintain a safe, structured learning environment and follow district policies. Participate in professional development, meetings, and required campus activities. Serve as a positive role model and support district goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals. Posture: Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Ability to stand for extended periods while operating equipment. Lifting: Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours. Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress.
