Copywriter
Reports to: President
Huntsinger & Jeffer is a direct response agency specializing in work with nonprofit organizations, including hospitals, alumni groups, health services, veterans’ organizations, animal welfare groups, and faith-based organizations. We are seeking a Copywriter to create clear, compelling communications that help our clients connect with supporters and advance their missions.
The Copywriter develops fundraising and cultivation copy across direct mail, email, and digital channels. This role calls for an understanding of each client’s audience, history, voice, and goals, as well as curiosity about donor motivation and effective direct response practices.
Responsibilities
- Write and revise appeals, acknowledgments, emails, and other campaign materials in each client’s voice.
- Research client programs, audiences, and campaign results to inform copy and creative recommendations.
- Work with account, design, production, and data colleagues to develop coordinated campaigns.
- Incorporate feedback thoughtfully while maintaining accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
- Proofread copy and prepare organized files for design and production.
- Meet project deadlines and communicate promptly about questions or schedule changes.
- Stay current with nonprofit fundraising and direct response practices.
- Contribute to agency marketing and other writing projects as needed.
- Maintain accurate project records and timesheets.
Qualifications
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to adapt tone and messaging for different organizations and audiences.
- Sound research skills and careful attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work collaboratively.
- Experience writing fundraising or direct response copy is welcome.
