Optima is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Accounting Manager to join our finance team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations, providing leadership in cash flow management, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for a broad range of financial tasks, including the management of daily accounting operations, the compilation and presentation of detailed cash flow reports, and the oversight of income tax preparations. They will play a key role in analyzing financial data to inform strategic decisions, monitoring accounting policies, and coordinating annual audits. An ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting management, with a proven ability to handle large datasets, supervise a team, and maintain meticulous attention to detail. They will be expected to drive results through effective leadership and have a deep understanding of financial regulations and accounting standards. - Manage and oversee the daily operations of the corporate accounting department, ensuring all corporate financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Monitor, compile, and analyze detailed cash flow reports, compiling historical cash flows and forecasting future cash requirements to ensure optimal liquidity for the organizations operations. This includes analyzing cash flow trends, predicting future cash needs, and advising on cash management strategies.
- Oversee income tax preparations for multiple entities, ensuring timely filing, compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, and advise on tax strategies and implications of business decisions. This involves staying updated on tax laws and coordination with our external tax preparers and advisors.
- Review and analyze accounting data to produce accurate financial reports, which are essential for strategic planning and decision-making.
- Enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles to ensure that all financial activities align with legal standards and company policies.
- Monitor systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the accounting department, if necessary.
- Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy, providing guidance and leadership to the accounting team.
- Maintain treasury management relationships and administer banking activity including account maintenance and ensuring compliance with banking requirements.
- Manage personal accounting activities for one family member, including bill pay, account reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping, while maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism.
- Possess a bachelors degree in accounting or a related field.
- Bring approximately 5-7 years of robust experience in accounting management, with a preference for candidates with a background in real estate.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage and complete projects and priorities within agreed-upon deadlines.
- Consistently produce high-quality, accurate deliverables.
- Show proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft products.
- Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both autonomously and within a team framework.
- Have strong written and oral communication skills.
- A proven track record in leading accounting operations within a dynamic real estate environment, demonstrating a strategic impact on business growth and financial health.
- A history of innovation in financial processes and systems, with a focus on efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and cash flow management.
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex accounting information to non-financial stakeholders, facilitating informed business decisions.
- Leadership experience in mentoring and developing accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.
- Hands-on experience in both Timberline Sage and Yardi software systems along with strong Excel skills
