Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU

Minimum Years of Experience: Less than 1 year

Certifications/Requirements:

• General Certifications: BLS/BCLS, ACLS
• Nursing Certifications: CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training preferred or to be obtained prior to completion of orientation

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support and promote the mission and values of the healthcare organization.
• Render professional nursing care to patients within the assigned unit, in support of medical care as directed by the medical staff and in accordance with hospital policies.
• Complete all unit-specific competencies and requirements necessary to care for critically ill patients effectively.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the area of practice.
• Ensure clinical documentation and care plans for all assigned patients are completed comprehensively and in a timely manner.
• Seek feedback on practice and act upon it appropriately.
• Demonstrate knowledge of current practice standards (ANA, NH Nurse Practice Act, Specialty standards).
• Communicate pertinent patient information to ensure continuity and safety of care through proper handoffs and cooperation with physicians and providers.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by adhering to established procedures and protocols.
• Implement resources and initiatives to improve patient safety.
• Promote a Just Culture Environment by encouraging error reporting and safe practices.
• Address concerns through the proper chain of command.
• Perform hourly rounding in collaboration with Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) on all assigned patients.
• Identify and assist in rectifying patient care safety issues.
• Recognize and commend excellent performance in colleagues and coworkers.
• Foster respectful relationships by proactively addressing concerns and providing constructive feedback.
• Collaborate across units and shifts for timely conflict resolution.
• Consult with nurses from other departments to leverage expertise in various clinical specialties.
• Maintain a professional and positive perspective at all times, even during challenging situations.
• Offer assistance to all team members as opportunities arise.
• Exhibit a willingness to resolve tensions and conflicts within the unit.
• Demonstrate practices aligned with shared governance principles and the philosophy of the organization.
• Participate in peer reviews and contribute to survey readiness efforts.
• Adhere to policies regarding managed time off and overtime protocols.
• Carry out additional duties as consistent with this role.

Job Requirements:

• 3 years of critical care experience preferred.
• Assist with insertion of Flow wire, Opsens, and IVUS; must demonstrate knowledge of contraindications and reversal for IV adenosine infusion.
• Ability to safely administer procedural sedation and document accordingly, passing the annual sedation examination.

Job Knowledge and Skills:

• Basic Dysrhythmia knowledge is preferred or to be obtained before completion of orientation.
• NHISS certification is preferred or to be obtained before completion of orientation.

Education and Experience:

• Current New Hampshire RN license required.
• Graduation from an approved Nursing program is preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience providing proficiency in the designated responsibilities may be considered.
