Aetna Bridge Company is an acknowledged leader in bridge construction and rehabilitation, marine construction and demolition services. The company provides comprehensive quality construction services throughout New England to various state highway departments, cities, towns, private developers and port authorities.
Aetna Bridge Company is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to lead payroll operations with a focus on union payroll, certified payroll, and compliance.
This role is critical to ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with union agreements and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
- Oversee payroll to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Maintain payroll records, deductions, and benefit contributions
- Process final pay, including layoffs and separations
- Partner with HR and management on payroll-related documentation
Union Payroll & Benefits
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly union reports and payments
- Maintain union rates, deductions, and liabilities
- Collaborate with union representatives to resolve discrepancies
Certified Payroll & Reporting
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for projects and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and prevailing wage requirements
- Maintain records for audits and inspections
Audit Support
- Prepare documentation for audits
- Respond to auditor and union inquiries
- Partner with Finance to resolve discrepancies
Qualifications
- Associates degree required; bachelors preferred (Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field)
- 3+ years of payroll experience (union or construction environment preferred)
- Knowledge of union contracts, prevailing wage laws, and certified payroll
- Experience with payroll systems (Viewpoint preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
