Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) for patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures. Supervises and collaborates with healthcare team members to ensure safe, efficient recovery and discharge processes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' vital signs and condition upon arrival and throughout recovery.
• Implement post-operative care plans following physician orders and established standards.
• Monitor patients for complications and respond promptly to emergent issues.
• Educate patients and families on post-discharge care instructions and recovery expectations.
• Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure seamless patient transitions.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and progress accurately in medical records.

Qualifications:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the practicing state.
• Proven experience in post-anesthesia or acute care nursing preferred.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent required.
• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
