STATIONARY ENGINEER (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY)

Salary: $6,696.00 - $8,477.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable. Final Filing Date: 6/22/2026 Responsibilities Operate, maintain, and repair boiler, heating, air‑conditioning, ventilating, and other mechanical systems. Instruct, lead, and supervise incarcerated personnel in the operation and maintenance of these systems. Plan, monitor, schedule, and perform maintenance on institutional heating and utility systems. Supervise maintenance performed by incarcerated personnel and ensure quality and safety standards are met. Weld, fabricate, fit, install, and repair mechanical devices. Lead and work with Stationary Engineer Apprentices and Maintenance Mechanics on the repair, replacement, and modification of mechanical, electrical, heating, and venting systems. Operate, maintain, and repair boilers, pumps, valves, and steam distribution lines, including condensate water recovery. Operate, repair, and maintain refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves, and float valves. Assist in asbestos abatement and repairs after meeting OSHA “competent person” or “certified supervisor” certification requirements. Plan and lay out schedules; requisition materials and equipment; read schematics, plans, and blueprints; provide guidance to work crews; ensure materials and equipment are prepared in time for schedules; contact outside vendors for price quotes; prepare Form CDC 954 (Intraoffice Requisition); keep simple work records. Perform administrative duties, including adherence to department policies, submission of leave, travel, and training requests, accurate timesheet reporting, and attendance at meetings and trainings.
