Accounting Specialist – Compensation & Schedule $27.00 – $37.00 per hour (DOE) Full-time, Non-Exempt Long-term opportunity Three (3) weeks of paid vacation annually Paid week off between Christmas and New Year's Paid sick leave Friendly and supportive team environment Accounting Specialist – Responsibilities Process accounts payable, ACH transactions, check payments, and corporate credit card transactions Review invoices for accuracy, approvals, grant compliance, and proper coding Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, payroll accounts, and subsidiary ledgers Support payroll processing, payroll allocations, and benefit reconciliations Maintain vendor files, W-9 documentation, and annual 1099 reporting Maintain fixed asset and inventory records Assist with monthly and year-end financial close processes Prepare documentation and schedules for annual audits, financial reporting, and monitoring reviews Utilize accounting software and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate financial records Ensure compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Provide excellent customer service to staff, vendors, funding agencies, and external partners Perform other related accounting duties as assigned Accounting Specialist – Qualifications Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required (Bachelor's degree preferred) Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible accounting experience Experience with nonprofit accounting, grant accounting, governmental funding, or federally funded programs highly preferred Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required Experience with accounting software; MIP Fund Accounting experience is a plus Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities with accuracy Accounting Specialist – Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based work Occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday Occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds Ability to perform detailed work requiring close visual focus Please note thisjobdescription is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee for this position.
