Job Overview:

The Commercial Estimating is responsible for accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This role involves managing the overall estimating process, developing bid strategies, and ensuring that estimates are aligned with project goals, timelines, and budgets. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in commercial construction estimating, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of market conditions, construction materials, and labor costs.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating:

• Oversee the development of detailed cost estimates forcommercial construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment,and subcontractor costs.
• Manage the bid process from initial inquiry to finalsubmission, ensuring that all estimates are accurate, competitive, andmeet client expectations.
• Review project plans, specifications, and otherdocumentation to prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analyses.
• Work closely with the preconstruction and projectmanagement teams to ensure that estimates align with overall project goalsand timelines.

Bid Strategy and Development:

• Develop and implement bid strategies based on marketanalysis, competitor benchmarking, and project-specific requirements.
• Analyze RFPs, RFQs, and ITBs to determine bid viabilityand identify potential risks and opportunities.
• Work with the business development team to identify newopportunities and provide competitive estimates that align with companygrowth goals.
• Prepare and present detailed bid proposals to clients,ensuring that all elements of the estimate are clearly explained andjustified.

Cost Control and Analysis:

• Monitor and analyze market conditions, material costs,and labor rates to ensure that estimates are based on up-to-date andcompetitive pricing.
• Perform post-bid reviews and track the performance ofestimates in awarded projects to improve the accuracy of future bids.
• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities andvalue-engineering options during the estimating process.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors,and suppliers to gather accurate cost information and developcomprehensive estimates.
• Communicate regularly with project managers and thepreconstruction team to provide cost updates, adjustments, andclarifications throughout the project lifecycle.
• Serve as the point of contact for clients, addressingany questions or concerns related to project estimates and bid proposals.

Reporting and Documentation:

• Prepare and maintain detailed records of estimates,bids, and cost analyses for internal use and future reference.
• Generate regular reports for senior management onestimating performance, win/loss ratios, and market trends.
• Ensure that all estimates are thoroughly documented andin compliance with company standards and client requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience:
• Experience in commercial construction estimating, witha proven track record of successful bids.
• Extensive experience in estimating a variety ofcommercial construction projects, including office buildings, retailspaces, healthcare, education, and industrial facilities.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with estimating software such as ProEst,Sage Estimating, or similar platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of construction costs, materials,labor, and equipment rates.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings,and specifications.
• Strong analytical skills to perform detailed quantitytakeoffs, cost breakdowns, and risk assessments.
