Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Observation Unit (Med/Surg Tele) position at a Level III Trauma teaching hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and strong cardiac and stroke skillsets.

Details

• Emergency Observation Unit in a 457-bed Level III Trauma teaching hospital, also designated as a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
• 10-bed unit with an average daily census of 8 patients
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina presentations
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5
• Common skills utilized include cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley)
• Medication drip management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF
• EMR: Epic; IV Pumps: Alaris; Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Floating required to all facilities within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) — candidates must be agreeable to this requirement
• No on-call or call-back requirements

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience, with most recent experience within the last year
• Experience with general Med/Tele skillset including stroke care and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Epic EMR experience
• Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Department support includes a Supervisor, Charge RN, Resource RN (assists with admissions/discharges), Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), Phlebotomy (shared with IV team), and an IV/VAT Team
• Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; additional time may be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met
• Scrubs: Navy

• First-time travelers are not preferred but may be considered
• Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
