Compensation: Competitive Base Salary/Hourly Pay + Production Bonuses (We offer aggressive bonuses based on our split-production model--your total compensation is 35% of what you bill.)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Tax Advisor who wants the professional challenge of client management and high-level tax strategy, but strictly on a seasonal basis. In this role, you will act as the strategic quarterback for a designated book of clients during our peak filing seasons, delegating heavy data entry to our technical staff.

When you are "on," you will operate as a high-performing professional leading client engagements. When you are "off," you are completely off—our year-round administrative and support teams handle the off-season maintenance so you can fully disconnect.

The Annual Schedule Outline

This role is designed around a predictable, cyclical calendar that requires roughly 7 months of active engagement:

• The Spring Sprint (February – April): Full engagement. You are managing client meetings, reviewing technical inputs, delivering final returns, and setting up quarterly strategies.
• The Summer Handoff (May – July): You are completely off-contract. Client communication is formally transitioned to our internal administrative team for routine notices and off-season bookkeeping (you can continue to work minimally into May if you would like).
• The Fall Push (August – October): You return to close out the extension pipeline, finalizing entity returns for the September 15th deadline and individual returns by October 15th.
• The Winter Break (November – January): You are off-contract. Our year-round staff handles year-end administrative prep, 1099s, and tax organizer distributions.

Core Responsibilities

• Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary, high-level point of contact for your client book during active seasons. Lead strategy meetings and explain complex tax outcomes clearly.
• Workflow Delegation: Work collaboratively with our technical data-entry team. Assign them trial balance adjustments and baseline return preparation so you can focus on review and advisory.
• Review & Quality Control: Perform initial and final reviews on returns prepared by technicians to ensure accuracy and identify proactive tax-saving opportunities.
• Complex Tax Preparation: Handle the hands-on preparation for intricate, multi-entity tax structures (C-Corps, S-Corps, Partnerships) and their associated K-1s in Lacerte.

Qualifications & Ideal Profile

• Experience: 3+ years of experience in public accounting with a strong foundation in tax preparation and review. A CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential is highly preferred.
• Software Proficiency: Deep expertise in tax software, Excel, and general bookkeeping principles is required. Lacerte tax software experience is preferred. Familiarity with Canopy for workflow management is a distinct advantage.
• Work Style: You are an autonomous, highly organized professional who can manage a pipeline of work efficiently. You excel in a fast-paced environment during the busy seasons and know how to execute a clean handoff when your seasonal work period ends.
• Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You can confidently lead discussions with business owners and negotiate optimal tax outcomes.
