About the Position The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth by developing and managing a strong pipeline of construction opportunities. This role is primarily market-facing, focused on identifying, qualifying, and securing new business opportunities through relationship development, strategic networking, and targeted pursuit efforts. The Business Development Manager partners with internal operations teams to support project pursuits but does not own estimating or project strategy development. Success is measured by building a sustainable pipeline, deepening client relationships, and consistently converting opportunities into profitable, awarded projects. Key Responsibilities Pipeline Development & Opportunity Capture Build, manage, and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified construction opportunities Identify and pursue target clients, projects, and markets aligned with company growth goals Track opportunities from lead generation through contract awards Maintain CRM accuracy, including pipeline value, stages, and probability Client Development & Relationship Management Develop strong relationships with owners, developers, designers, general contractors, and key industry partners Establish long-term partnerships that lead to repeat business and negotiated work Serve as the primary point of contact during early client engagement Drive client satisfaction and trust throughout the pursuit phase Representing the company at industry events, associations, and networking functions Stay visible and active within the local construction and development community Identify emerging opportunities through market presence and connections Build strategic partnerships to expand market reach Opportunity Qualification & Pursuit Support Lead go/no-go recommendations based on client, project fit, and strategic value Facilitate handoff to estimating teams for budgeting and technical development Support pursuit messaging, positioning, and win strategy development Participate in interviews, presentations, and client meetings Contracting & Closing Lead negotiations and support contract execution in partnership with leadership Drive deal closure and ensure alignment with company objectives Maintain focus on converting pipeline into awarded work Success in this role is ultimately defined by: Sustainable pipeline health and predictability Conversion of opportunities into profitable, awarded work Expansion and depth of client relationships Strong market presence and strategic positioning Disciplined pursuit of high-value, aligned opportunities Effective collaboration with preconstruction and operations Successful negotiation and closure of key deals Accurate forecasting and CRM discipline Qualifications: 7+ years of experience in estimating, project management, or business development within construction, electrical contracting, or related industries Strong technical understanding of estimating, project planning, and construction operations Proven experience building and maintaining client relationships Demonstrated success in strategic planning, market analysis, and pursuit management Knowledgeable with estimating software, CRM tools, and project management platforms Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred Professional certifications (DBIA, ASPE, LEED, etc.) are a plus Strategic thinking & business acumen Relationship building and client engagement Strong communication and presentation skills Financial analysis and margin management Negotiation and Influence Process improvement and workflow optimization Leadership and cross-functional coordination Success Indicators Growth in win rate and pursuit quality Accurate, competitive proposals Strengthened client relationships, deeper market penetration, and increased repeat business Improved pre-bid processes and efficiency Effective collaboration with operations and executive teams High visibility and understanding of market trends and competitive positioning Additional Information Industry Leading Health and Wellness benefit package #J-18808-Ljbffr
