Job Opportunity – Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit Registered Nurse – West Virginia

Start Date: ASAP

Location: West Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 3x12 Night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), weekdays with some weekends. Blocked schedules may be considered for weekend blocks only (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday). Holiday requests limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays.

Highlights:

• 13-week contract with potential for extension
• Stepdown unit with variable acuity; many patients would be Progressive Care or Telemetry level at larger facilities
• Typically 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio; may flex to 1:5 in emergency situations
• 36-bed unit with average daily census of 34 patients; primarily cardiac patients including cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures, plus general medical/surgical cases
• Cerner EMR system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
• 8-hour orientation provided

Requirements:

• Active West Virginia or Compact State RN License (pending license accepted for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of total RN experience required
• 1 year of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience and 2 years of Stepdown experience required
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proficiency in IV starts, cardiac telemetry monitoring, and ability to independently read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Skills in cardiac drip management, vasoactive drip management, central line care, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, and dysrhythmia management
• Permanent address must be 100+ miles from the facility
• Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
