Administrative Manager

Administrative Manager – Educational Leadership and Policy Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS – University of Texas at Austin. Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 hrs per week; Monday‑Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (flexible work arrangements may be available). Salary Range: $75,000 + depending on qualifications. Key Responsibilities Provide operational leadership, relieving the department chair in day‑to‑day decisions and managing administrative functions of the department. Oversee budgeting, financial operations, reporting, and annual inventory certification; maintain electronic office manager (EOM) records. Coordinate space needs, travel arrangements, and event planning for faculty, staff, and students. Act as human‑resources partner for faculty, visiting scholars, and staff; review appointments, I‑9 compliance, payroll costing, and staff job descriptions. Support faculty affairs including recruitment, promotion/tenure processes, comprehensive reviews, and tenure‑track recruitment. Supervise and manage administrative staff, including hiring, evaluation, training, onboarding, and separation. Serve as liaison to the Dean's office, other departments, professional organizations, and the department website. Maintain personnel files and departmental records management. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Five years of financial, human‑resources, and administrative management experience in large organizations, preferably higher education. Excellent time‑management, organizational, communication skills and professional demeanor. Strong interpersonal skills: tact, diplomacy, and appetite for confidential information. Ability to work autonomously, prioritize competing deadlines, and collaborate within a team. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of UT Austin and state purchasing and budgeting rules and procedures. Experience with UT Austin systems (DEFINE, Workday, FRMS). Record of workforce planning, employee development, and academic faculty recruitment. Experience in an academic environment (faculty, staff, and student interaction).
