Vice President, Product Excellence

Vontier is establishing a new enterprise-level Center of Excellence (COE) spanning Product Management, Engineering, and Product Marketing to raise the rigor and consistency of how our operating companies plan, build, launch, and support products. The Vice President, Product Excellence will lead this COE, reporting to the Chief Innovation and Growth Officer.This is a builder role and need to be a player coach as the enterprise team comes together. The VP will stand up a lean, high-leverage corporate team and operate largely through influence — partnering with CPO/product management, CTO/engineering, and product marketing leaders across the businesses (who are not direct reports) to establish common standards, tools, and talent practices, while respecting each business's unique markets and customers. Success looks like every business across Vontier running a disciplined, decision-ready product line review cadence, a healthier NPD funnel, improving quality and customer experience metrics, and a deeper bench of product leadership talent across the enterprise.ResponsibilitiesProduct Management Practice & Rigor· Own and evolve Vontier's enterprise product operating system — roadmapping, portfolio governance, stage-gate/agile NPD process, and the quarterly and annual product line review cadence — so every business plans and reports to a common standard.· Partner with business CPOs/product leaders to ensure roadmaps, investment cases, and portfolio architecture decisions are rigorous, data-driven, and explicitly tied to enterprise strategy.· Maintain the shared tools, templates, and metrics (NPD funnel health, portfolio financial bridges, win/loss discipline, pricing and cost analysis) that make product line reviews a forum for decisions, not just reporting.· Act as the bridge between the product teams in the business and the corporate teams to ensure alignment and support.Product Quality & Performance· Partner with the businesses and functional leaders to define enterprise standards for product quality, reliability, and field performance, and stand-up consistent mechanisms to track them across business units.· Partner with engineering and operations leaders to help close the loop between customer-reported issues, field performance data, and the product roadmap.· Support continuous improvement programs that reduce quality escapes and improve time-to-resolution on critical issues.Engineering Excellence· Partner with engineering leaders across the portfolio to raise the bar on technical practices, including architecture governance, development methodology, and NPD execution discipline.· Champion the responsible use of AI across the technical organizations, sharing of engineering best practices, platforms, and reusable technology across businesses to accelerate delivery and reduce duplicate investment (in partnership with the Vontier Business System team).Product Marketing Excellence· Establish enterprise standards for positioning, launch readiness, and go-to-market rigor, so new products launch with clear outcomes, narratives, pricing rationale, and competitive point of view.· Partner with product marketing leaders on win/loss programs and competitive intelligence that feed directly into portfolio strategy and roadmap decisions across the company.· Support positioning Vontier as a leader in Innovation through product related narratives and proof points.Capability Building & Talent Development· Design and deliver a maturity model, training curriculum, and career framework for product & talent (and adjacent engineering and marketing disciplines) aligned to product standard work across Vontier.· Identify, develop, and coach high-potential product leaders across the portfolio to build the enterprise's bench strength in product leadership.· Create communities of practice that connect practitioners across businesses to share what's working and accelerate adoption of best practices.COE Leadership & Enterprise Partnership· Lead a lean, high-leverage corporate team while operating primarily through influence with operating company leaders.· Report enterprise-level portfolio health and progress to the Chief Innovation and Growth Officer and executive leadership, including through the quarterly and annual product line review cadence.· Represent product, engineering, and product marketing excellence in enterprise strategy, M&A integration, and investment planning discussions.Required Skills / Qualifications / Certifications / Tech Stack Required· 12–15+ years of progressive experience in product management, engineering, or product marketing leadership, including experience operating at a multi-business-unit or enterprise level.· A track record of building and scaling a center of excellence, shared-services function, or enterprise standard/playbook across a multi-business organization.· Deep fluency in product management disciplines: roadmapping, portfolio strategy, NPI/stage-gate process, pricing, and voice-of-customer programs.· Demonstrated ability to lead through influence with senior operating company leaders who are not direct reports.· Experience in industrial technology, manufacturing, or a related B2B hardware/software environment.· Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.· Willingness to travel regularly (30–40%) across a global operating company portfolio.Preferred· Experience building enterprise functions from scratch inside a private-equity-owned or recently spun-off industrial company.· Familiarity with connected/IoT products and multi-energy or mobility end markets.· Background or certification in Six Sigma, quality systems, or engineering excellence.Outcomes and Deliverables· Every business runs a consistent, decision-ready product line review on a common template and cadence.· Improved NPD funnel throughput, velocity and on-time launch rates across the portfolio.· Measurable improvement in product quality and field performance metrics, with a documented reduction in quality escapes.· Top-line and bottom line growth tied to innovation across the organization· Rising customer experience and VOC scores, with a clear, working feedback loop into roadmaps.· A growing, visible bench of product leadership talent, evidenced by internal mobility and succession readiness.Competencies· Executive presence and the ability to influence without authority across a decentralized portfolio.· A builder mindset — comfortable standing up a new function, lean team, and enterprise standard from a blank page.· Balances enterprise standardization with respect for each operating company's market and customer context.· Data-driven decision-making paired with strong storytelling and executive communication skills.For this specific role, you may be eligible to participate in annual and long-term incentive plans.
