Key Responsibilities

• Conduct direct evaluations and re-evaluations for speech, language, and swallowing, assessing both prior and current functioning levels, establishing suitable goals, and making discharge recommendations in line with practice standards.
• Deliver direct Speech Language Pathology treatments according to established guidelines, which include educating patients and their families, advancing treatment plans, and implementing effective therapeutic interventions.
• Utilize appropriate documentation forms and comply with the documentation standards set by the PM&R department.
• Collaborate with physicians, patients, families, and other healthcare team members regarding patient treatment and progress, as well as with affiliated agencies.
• Actively engage in meetings, in-services, and rounds related to patient care and departmental matters.
• Supervise SLP students and rehabilitation technicians, managing and prioritizing your schedule based on patient treatment demands and departmental duties.
• Contribute to program development as directed by the SLP Clinical Leader.
• Participate in a minimum of 10 contact hours of continuing education or other learning opportunities to maintain professional competency.
• Provide at least one in-service training session annually for staff and/or the community for educational purposes.
• Comply with all regulations from the Department of Health and the Joint Commission concerning the physical environment and patient care.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Current D.C. (District of Columbia) license as a Speech Language Practitioner or eligibility for licensure.
• Certificate of Clinical Competency.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

Compensation

This position offers a salary range of USD $89,065.00 to USD $162,801.00 per year.
