Business Development Manager - Chicago

Responsibilities Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities by engaging with key business leaders, attending industry events, and building relationships with prospective clients. Lead and execute outreach strategies, including prospecting, developing contact plans, and organizing meetings to uncover client needs where the firm can add value. Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement pursuit strategies, participate in proposal development, and ensure alignment with firm growth objectives. Maintain accurate records of business development activities in the firm’s CRM system, and prepare management reports on sales performance, client wins, and outreach efforts. Represent the firm at targeted association functions, trade shows, and networking events to enhance visibility and promote the firm’s services within the market. Lead pursuit teams and close new business. Represent the firm at business and social events. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field; advanced degrees or professional certifications (CPA, CBDM, etc.) highly valued. 7‑10 years of proven experience in business development, sales, or client relationship management within accounting, consulting, or professional services environments. Demonstrated success selling $750,000 or more annually in first‑year fees. Ability to develop prospect lists, build pipelines, forecast accurately, identify additional revenue opportunities, and close business. Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to identify market opportunities and build lasting client partnerships. Familiarity with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and technology platforms such as CRM systems and cloud‑based accounting tools. Willingness to travel locally or nationally. Additional Information This is an exempt position and may require hours that exceed the standard 40‑hour work week. Compensation and Location Compensation range: $110,000‑$130,000 in Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, and Massachusetts. Benefits Health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.
