Strategic Account Manager

Summary
The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of high-value shipper accounts within a freight brokerage environment. This role focuses on long-term customer partnerships, revenue growth, and delivering optimized transportation solutions across multiple modes.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned strategic accounts
- Develop and execute account growth plans to increase revenue, margin, and share of wallet
- Identify new business opportunities within existing accounts (lanes, modes, services)
- Monitor and analyze account performance (KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost, and service levels)
- Collaborate with internal teams (carrier sales, operations, customer service) to ensure service excellence
- Proactively resolve service issues and provide continuous improvement recommendations
- Stay informed on market trends, capacity conditions, and pricing fluctuations
- Solve problems proactively—capacity issues, service failures, cost optimization
- Negotiate competitive rates with carriers while maintaining profit margins
- Source and secure carrier capacity for open freight shipments
- Manage daily load coverage to ensure all shipments are booked and executed on time
- Maintain accurate load and carrier data in TMS systems
