Journalism Instructor Pool – Part‑Time Part‑time teaching assignments for journalism at North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD). Faculty are called to teach from a pool when there is a need for lecture or lab instruction in journalism. Job Description May be asked to teach days, evenings, hybrid/online, and the dual enrollment program. Online or hybrid instruction requires additional campus‑based training. Duties include preparing course materials, delivering lectures, assessing student work, and maintaining a supportive learning environment. Essential Functions Teach journalism courses in lecture and lab settings. Develop syllabi, assignments, and assessments that meet department standards. Use online/hybrid platforms and provide campus‑based training when required. Maintain accurate records and provide timely feedback to students. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in journalism or communication with a specialization in journalism, or Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communication, plus Master’s degree in English, history, communication, literature, composition, comparative literature, social science, business, marketing, graphics, or photography. Valid California teaching credential for community college in the appropriate subject area, or equivalent experience as determined by the District Equivalency Committee. Demonstrated commitment to diversity: knowledge of and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community‑college students, faculty, and staff. Desirable Qualifications Success in teaching arts students from underrepresented, non‑traditional, multilingual, or learning‑disability populations.
