Pathologist Assistant

Pathologists' AssistantRegions Hospital's Histopathology Department is currently seeking a self-motivated, quality-focused Pathologists' Assistant to join our team.A Pathologists' Assistant is a professional who is qualified by academic and practical training to provide service in anatomic pathology under the direction of a qualified Pathologist who is responsible for the performance of the Assistant. As a Pathologists' Assistant at Regions Hospital, you will join an innovative and collaborative group of professionals.As a Pathologist's Assistant you will:Perform anatomic gross tissue analysis and preparation.Perform postmortem examinations.Maintain gross pathology records.Assist Pathologists in preparing patient reports.Maintain quality assurance, responsible for proper maintenance and documentations of equipment, provision, adequate supplies and cleanliness of the surgical pathology and autopsy suites.Maintain and implement policies and procedures in anatomic pathology relates Joint Commission compliance and under the direction of the Anatomic & Clinical Pathology Practice Manager and Histopathology Medical Director.Assists in the organization and coordination of anatomic pathology conferences.Work schedule: FTE: 1.0 (40 hrs. weekly) Day ShiftRequired Qualifications:Education:Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Pathology Assistants studyORBaccalaureate degree with a major or minor in any of the biological or allied health sciences and 3 years of Pathologists' Assistant on the job training required.Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:Certification as a Pathologist Assistant by the American Association of Pathologist Assistants (AAPA) or American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 15 months of hire.Preferred Qualifications:Experience: At least one year of experience as a certified Pathologists' AssistantLicensure/ Registration/ Certification:Certification as a Pathologist Assistant by the American Association of Pathologist Assistants (AAPA) or American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)Benefits: Regions Hospital offers a competitive benefits package (.5 FTE or greater) that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, 401K with match, disability insurance, fertility coverage and tuition reimbursement.
