Finance CoordinatorGoldbelt Heritage Foundation (GHF) is a nonprofit organization committed to preserving and revitalizing the culture, language, and ways of knowing of the Tlingit people of Southeast Alaska. Through educational programming, language revitalization, arts, and community collaboration, GHF fosters Indigenous knowledge and strengthens cultural identity for current and future generations.The Finance Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the Goldbelt Heritage Foundation. This position is responsible for assisting with accounting functions, budget monitoring, grant financial tracking, reporting, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and committed to the Foundation's mission.ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Functions:Accounting & Financial Management Receive, review, and verify invoices for accuracy and proper authorizationMatch invoices with purchase orders and receiptsSchedule and prepare payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers, bank deposits)Ensure timely payment to avoid late fees and maintain good vendor relationshipsMaintain vendor records and contact informationRespond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepanciesPrepare and maintain financial records, invoices, reconciliations, and aging reportsSupport payroll processing and related reporting requirementsReview and process employee expense reportsEnsure compliance with company policies and IRS guidelinesSupports the Finance Director in preparing financial statements, including income statements and balance sheetsTrack cash flow and ensure bills and obligations are paid on timeProvide recommendations for banking services and financial solutions to meet organizational needsBudget & Reporting Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of annual budgetsSupports the Finance Director in generating monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholdersTrack expenses and revenues against grants, contracts, and organizational programsAssist with accruals and reporting for financial statementsCompliance & Audit Support Ensure compliance with federal, state, and foundation grant requirementsMaintain accurate records for audits and tax purposesAssist with annual audit preparation and respond to auditor requestsMaintain adherence to organizational financial policies and proceduresCollaboration & Communication Work closely with program managers to provide financial updates and supportCommunicate effectively with vendors, partners, and funding agencies regarding financial mattersSupport leadership with financial data for decision-makingAssisting in the tasks, activities, and goals across GHF and supporting the Finance DirectorQualificationsNecessary Skills and Knowledge:Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practicesProficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel in particular)Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple prioritiesStrong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative work style.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. 6 (six) years of equivalent experience may be substitutedMinimum 2 (two) years of professional experience in accounting, finance, nonprofit financial management, and business administrationExperience with grant financial management is highly desirablePreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related fieldFour years of professional experience in accounting, finance, nonprofit financial management, and business administrationExperience working with Indigenous communities or organizationsKnowledge of Indigenous economic development and financial systemsWillingness to engage in race, equity, social justice, and historical/intergenerational trauma discourse as part of daily workKnowledge of, or willingness to learn, Tlingit culture and languageThe hourly pay range is $30.72 to $33.34.
