Personnel Assistant I Job Title: Personnel Assistant I. This position performs a variety of general personnel clerical tasks in areas including employee records, benefits, education, training, employment/staffing, compensation, employee labor relations, and equal employment opportunity/affirmative action. The Personnel Assistant may conduct surveys and update manual and automated personnel records. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform clerical and secretarial duties under general supervision to prepare various HR tasks throughout compensation, benefits, staffing/employment, EEO procedures, and policy administration. Exercise discretion at all times; limited judgment may be necessary. Operate general office equipment such as typewriter, personal computer, copier, adding machine, and facsimile. Conduct identification issuance requests and issue identification badges for building and system access, DoD CAC Card issuance policies, and certificates of completion proving successful completion of DEERS/RAPIDS training. Assist in processing identification issuance requests; issue identification badges for building/system access, DoD CAC Card issuance, and related training certificates. Perform other assigned duties as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None. QUALIFICATIONS Must be US citizen and clearable to obtain a federal clearance. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. At least 2 years of administrative or military personnel experience (preferred). Must possess an initiated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) and a favorable completion of FBI fingerprint check or eDoD determined equivalent investigation. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. Must possess a valid U.S. state driver's license applicable for the type and class of vehicle being operated. EDUCATION AND OR EXPERIENCE Minimum: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Preferred: minimum 2 years administrative military personnel experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Must be able to read, comprehend, and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails, and correspondence from inside the organization and external sources. Ability to effectively respond, communicate, and present information to clients and employees. REASONING ABILITY Ability to organize work, define and solve problems, establish and manage priorities, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Analyze situations analytically, evaluate facts/data, and formulate a plan of action. CERTIFICATES & LICENSES Must possess valid certificates of completion for all required DEERS/RAPIDS training. Must possess valid state driver's license. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties. Employee regularly required to sit and talk or hear. Vision requirements: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT Duties are primarily performed in an office environment; travel to off-site projects may involve work outdoors, in warehouses, supply points, motor pools, maintenance facilities, etc. for short periods.
