This position will interact internally with Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Compliance, IT, and externally with the division’s business partners, and supports a variety of accounting activities across the division.What you will do:Prepare and record journal entries and supporting documentation for a variety of accounting transactionsPerform general ledger account reconciliations and bank reconciliations, and investigate reconciling items as neededAssist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activitiesSupport accounting processes related to claims, reinsurance, cash activity, and other operational accounting functionsReview and validate data received from internal and external sources to support accurate accounting and reportingDevelop an understanding of how data flows through accounting systems to identify issues and support timely resolutionCommunicate and collaborate with internal teams and external business partners to resolve discrepancies and support ongoing accounting operationsMaintain accurate records, reports, and supporting documentation for assigned accounting activitiesContribute to a cooperative team environment and support department deadlines and deliverablesAssist with audit requests, special projects, and ad hoc accounting and reporting assignments, as neededOther duties as assignedWhat you will bring to C&F:Solid accounting foundation and comfort working with recurring accounting processes and supporting schedulesStrong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality workAbility to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environmentOrganizational and time management skills with excellent follow-throughProblem-solving ability and a curious, thoughtful approach to work, with willingness to investigate issues and support resolutionComfort working in a structured, deadline-driven, and collaborative environmentAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamClear written and verbal communication skillsAccountability and pride in work productRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college or institution or equivalent experience2+ years of general ledger accounting experience, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close, preferably in a larger company or corporate accounting environment preferredInsurance industry experience preferred; Accident & Health, specialty insurance, claims accounting, and/or reinsurance accounting experience a plusProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint What C&F will bring to you Competitive compensation packageGenerous 401K employer matchEmployee Stock Purchase plan with employer matchingGenerous Paid Time OffExcellent benefits that go beyond health, dental & vision.
