To learn more, visit Food Bank for the Washington, DC, Region | Capital Area Food Bank.Description:The Supervisor, Warehouse Operations (DC Facility) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of warehouse operations at the Capital Area Food Bank's Washington, DC Distribution Center. This role will provide direct leadership to the warehouse operations at the DC facility. This role will partner closely with warehouse leadership to support Receiving, Put-away, Replenishment, Order Fulfillment and Agency Pick up to ensure operational processes support accurate inventory movement throughout the supply chain.The Warehouse Operations Supervisor drives operational performance by maintaining productivity, inventory accuracy, food safety, and service standards while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Working closely with the Senior Manager of Operations and cross-functional partners, this position plays a critical role in supporting the organization's mission of providing food safely, accurately, and efficiently to the communities we serve.Essential Functions:Facility OversightSupervise and coordinate daily warehouse operations, including receiving, put away, replenishment, inventory control, order picking, packing, shipping, and agency pickup activities.Lead, coach, and develop warehouse associates to achieve operational, safety, quality, and productivity expectations.Monitor daily workflow, labor allocation, and staffing assignments to ensure operational priorities are met while maximizing productivity.Ensure compliance with all warehouse SOPs, food safety requirements, GMPs, OSHA regulations, and company policies.Monitor warehouse KPIs, including inventory accuracy, pulling productivity, order accuracy, fill rate, dock-to-stock time, and on-time completion of daily work.Conduct daily startup meetings, floor walks, and end-of-shift reviews to communicate priorities, address issues, and reinforce operational expectations.Partner with Inventory, Transportation, Facilities, Food Resources, Volunteer Services, and Customer Relations to ensure seamless execution across the operation.Investigate operational issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency, quality, and customer service.Support cycle counts, physical inventories, internal audits, and external regulatory inspections, including AIB and food safety audits.Ensure equipment is operated safely and properly maintained while promptly reporting facility or equipment concerns.Assist with employee performance management, including coaching, training, performance evaluations, attendance management, and corrective actions.Promote cross-training and workforce development to increase operational flexibility and strengthen bench depth.Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, increase productivity, and enhance service levels.Compliance and SafetyFoster and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment by enforcing safety policies, conducting routine safety meetings, performing facility safety inspections, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, food safety, and Capital Area Food Bank standards.Lead compliance efforts by ensuring operational adherence to all regulatory and organizational requirements, including AIB, DOT, OSHA, GMP, and food safety standards. Coordinate training, monitor compliance metrics, track corrective actions, and maintain continuous audit readiness.Conduct routine safety observations, incident investigations, and root cause analyses to identify risks, implement corrective actions, and reduce workplace injuries and safety incidents.Ensure all required regulatory documentation, certifications, inspections, and employee training records are completed, maintained, and audit-ready always.Promote a culture of safety and accountability by coaching team members, reinforcing safe work practices, and recognizing compliance with operational and safety expectations.Administrative DutiesPrepare, review, and maintain accurate operational reports, KPI dashboards, productivity metrics, and shift summaries.Monitor warehouse performance using key metrics, including inventory accuracy, productivity, order accuracy, fill rate, safety, and labor utilization, and communicate results to leadership.Review and approve employee timecards, attendance records, time-off requests, and scheduling in accordance with company policies.Develop daily staffing plans and assign labor resources to support operational priorities and workload demands.Maintain accurate employee training records, certifications, cross-training matrices, and compliance documentation.Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, coaching sessions, and performance evaluations while documenting employee performance and development plans.Prepare and maintain corrective action documentation, recognition records, and other employee performance files in partnership with Human Resources.Monitor operational expenses, labor hours, overtime, and supply usage to support departmental budget objectives.Coordinate with cross-functional departments, including Inventory, Transportation, Facilities, Customer Relations, Food Resources, Volunteer Services, and HR, to ensure effective communication and execution of operational priorities.Maintain accurate records related to inventory adjustments, cycle counts, safety inspections, incident investigations, equipment inspections, and regulatory compliance.Participate in operational planning meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, SOP development, and process documentation.Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately, submitted on time, and maintained in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.Other Duties as AssignedRequirements:High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.Minimum of three (3) years of warehouse, distribution, or logistics experience, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory or people leadership role.Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, develop, and motivate high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.Proven experience, leading multiple priorities and making sound operational decisions in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution environment.Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory control processes, and warehouse operations.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams) and warehouse reporting tools.Knowledge of OSHA regulations, food safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and warehouse safety best practices.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational metrics and use data to drive performance improvements.Ability to foster a cooperative, collaborative, and productive work environment across cross-functional teams.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or extended hours, as operational needs require.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying warehouse become certified to operate material handling equipment (forklift, electric pallet jack, reach truck, etc.) and train others as required.Physical Demands and Working ConditionsAbility to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, reach, climb, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods throughout the workday.Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds independently and heavier items with appropriate equipment or assistance.Ability to safely operate or become certified to operate powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.Work in a fast-paced warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures, including ambient warehouse conditions, refrigerated coolers, and freezer environments.Regularly work around moving machinery, powered industrial vehicles, loading docks, and other warehouse equipment while adhering to all safety protocols.Ability to climb ladders and safely access elevated storage locations when necessary.Visual ability to read labels, product information, computer screens, and warehouse documentation, along with the ability to distinguish colors and product markings as required.Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a busy warehouse environment where forklifts, conveyors, alarms, and other operational equipment are in use.Must be able to wear and properly utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all Capital Area Food Bank safety, food safety, and regulatory requirements.Work is performed primarily in a warehouse environment with frequent movement between warehouse, dock, office, and outdoor loading areas.Reporting:Senior Manager of OperationsCompensation:$64,800 to $83,400 annuallySchedule:Regular
