About the Position

Job Title: RN - PCU/MS Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU/MS Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Epic charting experience - Experience in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration - Skilled in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support - Proficient in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation - Capable of managing PCA and heparin protocols Description: Looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team as a float for PCU and medical-surgical units. This position requires comfort in working in all PCU and medical-surgical units. You will be scheduled for 4x12 shifts, working from 18:45 to 07:15. Charting will be conducted using an electronic system, thus previous experience is necessary. Floating between staffing needs will occur every 4 hours, which may lead to floating 2-3 times in a single shift. You may be required to work every other weekend or six weekend shifts within a six-week scheduling block. Holiday shifts will be required, with one holiday worked for the contract duration. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Local candidates may also be considered, but there are radius rules in place. All requests for time off must be submitted upfront. There is a policy allowing for one shift cancellation every two weeks. Experience in telemetry and stepdown-level care is preferred, with patients typically being adults and geriatrics. The expected patient ratios are 5:1 for PCU and 6:1 for medical-surgical units, which may increase to 7:1. You will be working within an interdisciplinary team that includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. Candidates with charge experience and additional trauma certifications are preferred. This role requires managing various medical conditions and responding to emergencies. The successful candidate should be well-versed in advanced clinical skills relevant to both PCU and medical-surgical patient populations.
