Under the supervision of the Associate Director, the Coordinator, Student Connection and Community assists in coordinating student organizations, leadership programming, and campus affinity experiences on the ASU West Valley Campus as a member of the Student Connection and Community (SCC) team. This position provides day-to-day advisement and developmental resources to students, student organizations, and advisors. This position assists with the execution of student organization fairs, education sessions, and the annual student organization registration process. In addition, this position serves as a liaison to other departments around student organization items and is a main point of contact for student organization management and space reservation systems. This position serves as the advisor for the Programming Activities Board which plans events and student engagement opportunities for all students. The Coordinator also assists with student engagement social media, newsletters, and department marketing. The position reports to the Associate Director, Student Connection and Community and is primarily based on the West Valley Campus, with university-wide responsibilities. 02Essential Duties
- Serves as a resource to student organizations through on-going advisement, support, and consultation to student organization leaders
- Works to plan and execute Fall and Spring Involvement Fairs, along with other initiatives and activations that highlight student organizations and opportunities for student involvement
- Works to maximize use of existing software systems, including but not limited to, SunDevilSync, and Salesforce
- Develops and facilitates workshops, meetings, or conferences for students and organizations related to leadership training, risk management education, organizational behavior, and event planning strategies
- Orients new officers and members to the history and purpose of their organization, and assists in future goal setting through transitional workshops and programs
- Assists student organizations in understanding and interpreting University policies and procedures
- Regularly reviews and updates the Student Organization Handbook, Advisor Handbook, and related university policy manuals
- Facilitates the annual student organization re-registration and recognition process within SunDevilSync
- Assists with student engagement social media accounts, webpages, and newsletters (Salesforce Marketing Cloud).
- Supports university-wide initiatives to develop robust leadership programming that contributes to the student experience and enhances skill-building capacities including, but not limited to Fall Welcome, Family Weekend, Sun Devil Game Day, Homecoming and Devilpalooza
- Provides advising and guidance in planning and implementing a consistent, diverse, and robust lineup of events throughout the West Valley campus.
- Develops undergraduate student leaders involved with the Programming Activities Board (PAB).
- Assists in managing a significant budget and ensures that program goals and objectives area accomplished in accordance with departmental and institutional priorities.
- Supports leadership training and organizational management opportunities for PAB student leaders through workshops, seminars, and other professional development.
- Participates in the process of recruiting, hiring, onboarding and retaining student staff in a manner that contributes to the development of a talent pipeline
- Supervises student employees responsible for operations of the Student Connection & Community (SCC) Office using concepts from the ASU Work+ Program
- Coordinates the reservation, supervision, and handling of the West Valley Campus Sparky the Sun Devil mascot
- Supports Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) divisional initiatives and events inclusive of Welcome Week, Pitchfork Awards, Change the World, and more
- Represents the SCC department by serving on various department and university committees; attends seminars, workshops, and conferences
- Supports relationships with university and external partners, including Aramark, Sun Devil Athletics, Academic Partners, Enterprise Partners, and more
- Work location is primarily at the West Valley Campus; however, incumbent may occasionally be required to travel to off-campus events and other ASU campuses
- Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with members of the community and the community at large from diverse backgrounds
- Develops and implements evaluation and assessment strategies within the unit; including basic tracking of activities, program evaluation, and measurement of learning outcomes

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
