Assistant Controller

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our Accounting team. As the Assistant Controller you will oversee the Accounting Department in a productive and committed manner. Be a team player in this hands‑on position, dealing with daily accounting activities, staff management, interaction with restaurant management, and reporting to the owner. Responsibilities Manage accounting, reporting, and systems for a multi-location group with multiple legal entities. Financial reporting for management: Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Cost Reporting, and various analytical reports and analyses. Cash handling management and reconciliations of multiple bank accounts. Inventory controls and COGS reporting. Balance Sheet accounts reconciliations. Prepare complex journal entries for maintaining and closing books. Full general ledger review and month-end close. Sales Tax reporting. Manage and participate in monthly Accounts Payable process, including statement reconciliation, resolution, and processing payments. Any other duties at the discretion of the owner and/or regional director. Skills Excellent customer service skills, initiating hospitality. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task. Ability to educate, supervise and direct the work of others. Working knowledge of accounting and restaurant management software (QuickBooks, Toast). Ability to master a variety of software tools utilized for various accounting and financial purposes. Communicate and understand the English language and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Qualifications Minimum 5 years experience in all aspects of general accounting. A thorough knowledge of GAAP. Expert in Excel. Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
