Job Description Summary $15,000 SIGN-ON BONUS External applicants may be eligible for a $15,000 sign-on bonus with a one-year work commitment. Previously employed applicants who have been gone from the organization more than 90 days may also be eligible. Candidates who reside more than 100 miles from Riverside Methodist Hospital may be eligible for relocation assistance up to $13,000. Come join one of the busiest Radiology departments within the OhioHealth organization at Riverside Methodist Hospital. This 24/7/365-day department averages approximately 130,000 exams per year. Working in a variety of areas, the Radiology Technologists at Riverside gain valuable knowledge and continue to grow on a daily basis. These technologists work in the Emergency Department, Operating Room, Same Day Surgery Center, Endoscopy, use portables to cover the entire hospital (ICU, PACU, NICU, etc.), plus work with our inpatient population and outpatient walk‑ins. This fast‑paced diagnostic department is a great place for a technologist who is looking for variety! This Radiology Technologist prepares patients for examinations and performs diagnostic radiology procedures following guidelines set by OhioHealth and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). This is a full-time, day shift position working three 12-hour shifts with an every other weekend rotation. Call is required one 8-hour shift per month. Responsibilities and Duties 40% Performs Diagnostic procedures. Conducts routine radiographic studies in diagnostics and specialized fluoroscopy studies utilizing digital fluoroscope equipment; Maintains proficiency in each of these areas. Provides radiation safety for operator and patient. 40% Obtains diagnostic radiographs – Places patient in proper positions for procedures, adhering to department policy regarding routine. Positions anatomical parts as necessary to obtain optimum radiographs. Observes patient throughout procedure and responds to any observed changes or manipulation of equipment to ensure optimal images and safety. Critiques images for optimal interpretation. Repeats images as necessary. 15% Prepares patients for examination – Receives orders/request for procedures from physician, nursing unit, or radiology office and makes necessary entries in electronic medical record. Greets patient in a friendly manner, positively identifies them, explains procedure in clear terms. Ensures clothing and jewelry are removed and patient is properly attired. Starts IBS and draws up medications. 5% Performs miscellaneous related duties – Assumes duties of electronic imaging technician when necessary. Processes images for interpretation. Imports and burns CDs. Performs QC tests on X‑ray unit and adjusts as necessary. Works with students enrolled in radiography program under program guidelines. As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties. Minimum Qualifications AART-ODH – American Registry of Radiologic Technology – American Association of Radiologic Technologists BLS – Basic Life Support – American Heart Association Specialized Knowledge Graduate of an approved accredited radiography program. Registered with ARRT; ODH Ohio Radiologic License; BLS certification. Thorough knowledge of various medical imaging procedures and equipment including proper technique and positioning, handling, and administering ionizing radiation to include contrast media agents, radiographic anatomy and physiology and medical terminology. Expresses superior customer service skills. Pleasant demeanor, neat, poised appearance. Ability to function as team member, with limited supervision. Highly motivated with effective written and verbal communication and effective organizational skills.
