About the Role

The Senior Assistant General Counsel will also have a key role in the area of construction contracts, with a focus on drafting agreements that mitigate potential legal issues. Additionally, the position includes providing support to the Board of Commissioners' Office on governance and compliance matters. Applicants must have a Juris Doctorate degree, be admitted to the Illinois Bar, and have a minimum of 8 years' of legal experience. Strong writing, communication, and research skills are essential, as is a solid background in contract law. Experience in city or local agency procurement is required, and a specialty in construction law is highly preferred. The ideal candidate will be a team player, adaptable, and able to provide legal support in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities also include handling procurement matters, responding to regulatory inquiries, and ensuring compliance with a range of legal and administrative procedures.
