About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead a dynamic team that is at the forefront of developing a revolutionary satellite platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for scaling the engineering team, currently at 15, to 50 while maintaining a strong focus on shipping hardware. This role demands a leader with a proven track record in growing and managing engineering organizations, particularly in the context of hardware development for space, hypersonics, or reentry systems. The VP of Engineering will be instrumental in defining the organizational structure, hiring plan, and performance growth across various subsystem teams. They must have the technical depth to earn the respect of their team, be adept at process management, and have a direct, low-ego communication style. Experience in supplier management within a constrained aerospace supply chain and a deep understanding of the full spacecraft development lifecycle are essential. Applicants for the VP of Engineering position at the company should have a minimum of 10 years' experience in developing complex aerospace hardware, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. The ideal candidate will have a background in spacecraft, launch vehicles, or similar, and a strong network that can be leveraged to bring in top talent. While not mandatory, experience with satellites, hypersonics, or reentry and thermal protection systems is preferred. The role requires a U.S. Person status and a willingness to work on-site in Denver.
