Transform Lives Through Communication in the Dynamic City of Washington, D.C. – Your Future Awaits as a Speech Language Pathologist
Imagine a career that doesn't just focus on treating communication and swallowing difficulties, but truly empowers individuals to express themselves. As a Speech Language Pathologist in the vibrant heart of Washington, D.C., you will provide transformative care, enabling clients of all ages—from spirited children articulating their thoughts for the first time to grandparent advocates recapturing their voice—to flourish in their lives.
This unique position offers the chance to work with a diverse range of patients, combining outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient needs. Whether your passion lies in enhancing the language development of children, addressing communication challenges in adults recovering from strokes, or aiding geriatric patients in cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation, you will find a flexible environment filled with inspiration and opportunity.
Conduct thorough assessments for infants, children, adults, and elderly people using standardized measures and keen observational skills.
Craft individualized treatment strategies aimed at meeting both short-term goals and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing objectives.
Deliver targeted speech therapy focused on enhancing communication skills, language competence, fluency, voice quality, and swallowing ability.
Engage in collaborative practices with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nursing staff, physicians, caregivers, and families to devise unified care plans.
Educate patients and families with advice and strategies to bolster progress outside of therapeutic sessions.
Participate in inpatient evaluations and interventions as needed, supporting seamless care throughout the patient's journey.
Ensure detailed and prompt documentation in accordance with state, federal, and organizational requirements.
Commit to ongoing learning and professional development, remaining abreast of advancements in the field through education and peer engagement.
Issuance of a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution.
Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not currently ASHA-certified.
Valid state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
Essential: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days following employment.
Expertise in evidence-based practices for various age groups, with a robust understanding of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing concerns.
Exceptional interpersonal communication skills for engaging with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Ability to adapt therapeutic methods to accommodate varied cultural and linguistic contexts.
Strong clinical reasoning, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in managing electronic health records and adhering to documentation protocols.
Competitive salary reflective of experience.
Flexible hours to promote work-life balance while managing different patient needs.
Paths to specialize in pediatric care, adult rehabilitation, or geriatric therapy.
Paid time off (PTO) and holiday leave.
Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans available.
Support for continuing education and professional growth opportunities.
A collaborative work environment dedicated to high-quality care and lifelong education.
A Journey That Enhances Lives — and Enriches Yours
In this role, your contributions will transcend traditional speech therapy; you will join a vibrant community focused on rekindling voices, deepening connections, and creating joy through the profound gift of communication.

Who We Seek
We are in search of a Speech Language Pathologist who drives change through not only skill but compassion. A professional who witnesses the potential in a shy child and dreams of the self-expression to come, who detects the nuances of a stroke survivor's speech and senses their determination to reclaim their voice.
You could be a specialist in pediatrics wishing to branch out to adult care or a clinician well-versed in neuro rehabilitation eager to make a difference in the lives of children.
Regardless of your area of expertise, if you're ready to engage with empathy and lead by example, you'll find a welcoming home here.
