Ignite Communication in the Diverse Tapestry of the Nation's Capital – Join Us as a Speech Language Pathologist!
Imagine stepping into a role where your next career path isn't just a job; it's a calling that literally gives voice to the voiceless. As a Speech Language Pathologist nestled within one of the most culturally rich and vibrant communities, your expertise will extend far beyond treating speech and swallowing issues. You will become an architect of potential, a catalyst for rediscovering confidence, and a creator of human connections—from toddlers honing their first words to seniors regaining their independence.
This position presents a rare opportunity to work with an extensive array of patients spanning all ages in a dynamic environment that seamlessly integrates outpatient therapy with periodic inpatient care. Whether your passion lies in pediatric speech development, adult neurological rehabilitation, or geriatric cognitive therapy, you will uncover a fulfilling and flexible career journey here.
Conduct thorough evaluations of patients that encompass pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics, utilizing both standardized assessments and observational methodologies.
Create individualized treatment strategies that cater to both immediate needs and long-term goals related to communication, cognition, and swallowing.
Deliver focused, one-on-one speech therapy aimed at improving communication, language skills, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing abilities.
Collaborate with physical and occupational therapists, nursing staff, physicians, caregivers, and family members to develop a unified approach to patient care.
Provide education to patients and families to support continued progress outside therapy sessions.
Participate in inpatient speech therapy assessments and interventions when necessary, ensuring seamless continuity of care throughout the patient's rehabilitation process.
Ensure documentation is timely and precise, in compliance with all relevant state, federal, and organizational protocols.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of the latest advancements in the field through educational workshops and peer consulting.
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), if not yet ASHA-certified.
State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory within 30 days of starting employment.
Expertise in applying evidence-based treatment techniques to a diverse age range, along with a robust understanding of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
Exceptional interpersonal skills to foster meaningful communication with patients, their families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Capacity to modify therapy methods to respect and embrace various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Strong clinical reasoning and adept problem-solving capabilities.
Proficient in navigating electronic medical record systems and maintaining documentation standards.
Attractive compensation that reflects experience levels.
Flexible work schedules to promote an ideal work-life balance alongside varied patient caseloads.
Options to specialize in pediatric speech therapy, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric care.
Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday compensation.
Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans available.
Support for continuing education through reimbursement for courses and professional growth opportunities.
A collaborative environment where teamwork thrives, and quality patient care is paramount.
In this role, you won't simply provide therapy; you will weave yourself into a community commitment to restore voices, enhance communication abilities, and spark joy through the power of understanding. You'll join a team where each member treats one another like family, operating in an atmosphere that prioritizes collaboration over competition. Each patient has a unique narrative; we trust you can help craft how they share their story.
In this corner of the nation's capital, life has a unique rhythm that intertwines the pulse of innovation and the warmth of city diversity. Among iconic monuments and rich history, this vibrant district is a sanctuary for those who seek a balance between urban excitement, nature, and opportunity. Communities gather at local parks for outdoor concerts and picnics while nature enthusiasts enjoy the scenic trails through parks and parks along the Potomac River. Culinary adventurers delight in an eclectic assortment of eateries, from food trucks to Michelin-starred restaurants celebrated for their innovative takes on classics.
The vibrancy of the city resonates through its art, music, and community events that unite individuals from all walks of life. For professionals, the advantages go beyond lifestyle: there's no state income tax, a manageable cost of living, and a flourishing healthcare ecosystem that provides fertile ground for career growth.
Whether you're just starting your journey in this field or are an experienced practitioner eager for new challenges, you'll discover ample space for personal and professional development.
We're on the lookout for a Speech Language Pathologist whose motivations stem from achieving outcomes and extending compassion. Someone who sees the silent struggles of a child and envisions a future of effortless expression. Somebody who hears the halting speech of a stroke survivor and perceives their determination to overcome.
You could be a pediatric expert wanting to branch into adult services or a clinician with a specialization in neuro rehabilitation longing to integrate early interventions into your practice.
If you're driven by purpose and ready to embrace the art and science of therapy, we are excited to welcome you into our fold.
If you believe that communication is more than mere words, and therapy transcends tasks—if you value the power of trust before assessing goals and recognize that laughter is just as important as language—then this could be your next professional adventure. Join us in a community that reveres connection, cherishes communication, and embodies the courage to start anew. Apply today to lend your voice to our mission—and help others discover their own.
