Category Manager

Kforce has a client in Northbrook, IL that is seeking a Category Manager. Responsibilities:

• Lead the strategic sourcing and procurement lifecycle for technology-related spend, including software, hardware, cloud services, telecommunications, managed services, and IT consulting engagements
• Manage end-to-end sourcing activities, including RFx development, supplier evaluations, negotiations, contracting, renewals, and vendor management
• Build and maintain strong relationships with technology suppliers to ensure high service levels and favorable commercial terms
• Develop and execute category strategies that drive value, mitigate risk, and support business objectives
• Partner closely with stakeholders across IT, Finance, Legal, Cybersecurity, and business units to align sourcing initiatives with organizational priorities
• Analyze spend data and market trends to identify optimization opportunities and develop business cases for sourcing initiatives
• Lead negotiations for software licensing, cloud subscriptions, professional services, and managed service agreements
• Drive supplier rationalization and consolidation efforts to maximize buying power and improve operational efficiency
• Ensure adherence to procurement policies, governance processes, and contractual standards
• Support process improvements, sourcing transformation initiatives, and procurement best practices
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology, Supply Chain, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in IT sourcing, strategic procurement, category management, or technology vendor management
• Demonstrated experience leading RFx processes and contract negotiations
• Strong understanding of commercial contracting practices and supplier management
• Proven ability to identify and deliver meaningful cost savings and value improvements through strategic sourcing
• Experience analyzing spend data and developing sourcing strategies based on business needs and market insights
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
• Comfortable engaging with and presenting recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently
