Accounts Receivable Specialist

Title : Accounts Receivable Specialist Location : Schaumburg, Illinois Assignment Type : 3-month contract with the possibility of extensions Compensation : $27.00 - $29.00 / Hourly depending on relevant experience Benefits : This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to support the day-to-day accounts receivable operations for a growing organization. This role will be responsible for managing cash applications, account reconciliations, collections, deductions research, and ensuring timely and accurate processing of customer payments. Key Responsibilities Process and apply customer payments accurately and timely. Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies. Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding customer balances. Research and resolve payment issues, short pays, deductions, and unapplied cash. Collaborate with customers and internal departments to resolve billing and payment disputes. Maintain accurate customer account records and documentation. Prepare AR reports and assist with month-end close activities. Support cash forecasting by providing updates on collection activity. Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred. 3+ years of Accounts Receivable, Cash Application, Collections, or Credit experience. Strong understanding of AR processes, account reconciliations, and collections. Experience researching and resolving deductions, chargebacks, and payment discrepancies. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
