While this role will primarily focus on the foregoing activities in North America, support in other regions will also be required. This role serves as a trusted legal partner to Sales, Service, Procurement, Product, and Technology teams, managing a high volume of commercial contracts while also leading more complex, technology-driven and innovation-focused transactions.The ideal candidate brings strong independent judgment, deep experience with customer and supplier paper, and the ability to structure and negotiate sophisticated commercial, SaaS, technology, and development agreements with minimal supervision. Experience supporting an in-house legal or contracts function within an industrial equipment manufacturer or similarly complex manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.This role is open to candidates located anywhere in the U.S. and is fully remote, with occasional travel to Wood Dale, IL, as needed.While this role is ideally based in Wood Dale, IL, we are open to exceptional candidates located anywhere in the United States. Remote candidates should be available to travel to Wood Dale approximately 10–20% of the time for key meetings, team collaboration, and business needs.In this role, a typical day will look like: Commercial Contracting – North America & Global SupportReview, draft, negotiate, and manage a broad range of both customer and supplier (direct and indirect) commercial agreements, including:Terms & conditionsMaster purchase and master supply agreementsService and maintenance agreementsSaaS and software licensing agreementsNDAs and data protection agreementsQuality assurance/change control agreementsServe as the primary contracts resource for Videojet’s North America business. Provide additional contract support for agreements outside of North America, collaborating with internal stakeholders and legal colleagues as appropriate.Independently negotiate routine and moderately complex agreements, escalating only highly complex or novel issues to Legal leadership or company attorneys.Work extensively from customer and supplier paper, applying strong issue-spotting, risk assessment, and practical problem-solving skills.Technology, SaaS, and Digital Business SupportBring deep expertise in technology and SaaS contracting to support expanding digital, connected, and AI-enabled business models.Identify and manage risks related to data usage, cybersecurity, IP ownership, licensing, liability allocation, and regulatory considerations in technology-driven agreements.Partner with internal technology, product, and digital teams to ensure contracts align with evolving business strategies and risk tolerances.Product Innovation & Strategic PartnershipsSupport product innovation initiatives by structuring and negotiating complex development, co-development, and supply agreements with third-party partners.Ensure appropriate protection of intellectual property, confidentiality, and commercial interests in R&D and innovation-focused collaborations.Advise cross-functional teams on contractual frameworks that enable innovation while managing legal and commercial risk.Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process ManagementWork closely with Sales, Service, Finance, Customer Service, Procurement, Product, and Technology teams to facilitate timely contract review and execution.Participate in cross-functional reviews of vendor questionnaires, RFQs, codes of conduct, certificates of insurance, and other legal documentation.Identify and lead continuous improvement efforts for commercial contracts operations including, without limitation, with respect to KPIs and the Legal Department’s contract lifecycle management (CLM) system. Own CLM reporting and interpretation of contract data and implementation of countermeasures when unfavorable trends are identified.Identify and lead the development and improvement of contracting processes, playbooks, and templates to support efficiency and scalability.Critical Success FactorsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume contracting environment while maintaining accuracy and sound judgment.Demonstrated critical thinking skills and the ability to independently assess risk and propose practical solutions.Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.Collaborative mindset and effective communication skills to partner with stakeholders across functions and geographies.Ability to quickly develop a strong understanding of Videojet’s business, products, and strategic priorities.​ The essential requirements of the job include:Minimum 10–12+ years of progressive experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts supporting both sales and procurement organizations. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The compensation range for this role is $100,000 - $130,000 USD per year.
