Contract Accountant (Independent Contractor)

Contract Accountant (Independent Contractor) Art in Action is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant with NetSuite and Salesforce experience to support our accounting operations. Key Responsibilities Review and maintain the accuracy of financial records in NetSuite, partnering with the Office Manager on accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities. Review and reconcile bank, credit card, and grant‑related accounts in collaboration with the Office Manager. Complete the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial review. Prepare monthly financial statements, including the Statement of Activities (P&L), Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet), and other management reports. Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for grant applications and grant reporting. Support annual audit and tax preparation by maintaining organized financial records and providing requested documentation. Monitor restricted and unrestricted funds to ensure accurate accounting and grant compliance. Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for the Director of Finance to use in Board of Directors reporting, budget forecasting, and financial planning. Partner with the Executive Director, Director of Finance, and Office Manager to ensure accurate coding, financial reporting, and budget alignment. Preferred Qualifications 3-5 years experience in nonprofit accounting, including fund accounting and grant reporting. Proficiency with NetSuite or another cloud‑based ERP/accounting system. Experience supporting month‑end close and financial statement preparation. Familiarity with annual audits and IRS Form 990 preparation. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small, mission‑driven team. Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
