This full-time, on-site contract opportunity is designed for professionals who are passionate about helping students reach their highest potential. While the position is based near Durham, candidates open to traveling from Charlotte, North Carolina are encouraged to apply.
Requirements:
- Valid and active North Carolina Special Education Teaching certification
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher or in a similar educational setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to adapt lessons and teaching strategies to meet individual student needs
- Commitment to fostering a positive, supportive classroom culture
- Familiarity with IEP processes and special education laws and guidelines
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs
- Provide differentiated instruction in both inclusive and resource settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student progress
- Assess student skills and learning requirements, documenting growth and making necessary adjustments
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as needed in compliance with school and state regulations
- Support students in developing academic, social, and behavioral skills to promote independence
