Position Details Title: Investigator Classification: INVESTIGATOR Salary: $6,339.00 - $8,558.00 A / $7,306.00 - $10,609.00 B Work Location: Sacramento County Telework: Hybrid (up to two days remote / three days onsite) Job Type: Permanent, Full Time # of Positions: 1 Responsibilities Conduct complex and sensitive disability retirement investigations, including surveillance and use of electronic equipment. Conduct complex and sensitive internal investigations of employee misconduct. Work undercover and testify in criminal and administrative proceedings. Work long and unusual hours, traveling throughout the State of California. Locate and interview witnesses, review complex medical reports, obtain evidence, serve subpoenas/other legal documents, and prepare detailed reports. Serve as liaison with state and local law enforcement in coordination of disability cases and fraud investigations. Special Requirements Valid California Driver's License (CDL) required. Provide license number, class, expiration, endorsements or restrictions. Drug screening required prior to hire. Background investigation required prior to hire. Medical clearance required prior to hire. Psychological evaluation clearance required prior to hire. Reading and writing assessment required prior to hire. Statement of Qualifications Applicants must submit a Statement of Qualifications ("SOQ") that addresses the following prompts. Describe your knowledge and experience related to investigations, including the approximate number of investigations conducted, types, and number of investigative reports completed. Describe your knowledge and experience specifically related to surveillance, specifying the type and your role. Minimum Qualifications All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed in the Classification Specification must be included in the application package. Transcripts for education used to meet MQs should be submitted. Degrees from outside the United States require a NACES evaluation. Candidates may need to pass an examination to establish eligibility before a final offer. Authorization to Work in the U.S. Effective January 1, 2023, Senate Bill 960 removed the prior requirement that peace officers be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Non-U.S. citizens may now qualify for peace officer positions if they are legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law. Peace Officer Selection Standards Applicants must meet the selection standards developed by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training per Penal Code section 13510(a). Drug Test Applicants for positions in this class are required to pass a drug screening test.
