This is a Peace Officer classification [PC 830.3(h)] subject to POST requirements. The position requires POST certification; if not certified, the applicant must complete POST training within the first year of appointment. Under the direction of the Supervising Special Investigator I, the Investigator will independently conduct the most sensitive, complex, and diverse investigations, including sexual and physical abuse, questionable/wrongful death, unlicensed facility operations, registered sex offenders present in community care facilities, and related matters. Duties include conducting interviews of subjects, witnesses, and victims; utilizing law enforcement databases; obtaining police, court, and analytical reports; and collaborating with local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in a joint taskforce setting. The Investigator must perform a full range of peace officers duties and maintain a valid driver’s license to cover statewide travel. Special Requirements Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) with number, class, expiration date, and endorsements or restrictions. Background investigation cleared prior to hire. Medical clearance prior to hire. Psychological evaluation clearance prior to hire.
